|South River High School||1|
South River traveled to Chesapeake, MD to compete in the Chesapeake Invitational. Their first opponents were the Cavaliers of Archbishop Spalding High School. The first half was dominated by the Seahawks with the majority of possession on the Cavalier side of the field. Excellent play by the Spalding goalkeeper kept the Seahawks off the board. Neither team was able to convert their chances and halftime found the game a scoreless tie. The second half continued South River dominance until the 45 minute mark. Natalie Pratta fired a hard shot which was saved by the Cavalier keeper. The rebound was deflected to Jaclyn Bredenkamp who shot past the outstretched hands of the prone keeper for a 1-0 Seahawks lead. The remaining 25 minutes of the game remained scoreless as both defenses stiffened and fine goalkeeping by Maddie Dubois kept the Cavaliers off the board for a hard fought 1-0 South River victory.
